What We Do

Dynamic Behavior Science works at the intersection of behavioral research, professional learning, and clinical innovation. Across each area, we draw from Relational Frame Theory (RFT), Relational Density Theory (RDT), Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT), and the broader functional-contextual tradition. Our goal is to make contemporary behavioral science more understandable, practical, and useful.

Professional Development

We provide professional development that helps behavior analysts deepen their conceptual understanding and expand their practical skills. Our educational offerings connect foundational behavioral principles with emerging research on language, cognition, psychological flexibility, and complex human behavior.

Our work includes workshops, presentations, continuing-education events, consultation, and customized training for practitioners and organizations. Topics may include applying RFT and RDT to clinical practice, incorporating ACT-informed strategies into behavior-analytic services, strengthening case conceptualization, and navigating the practical and ethical challenges of working with complex behavior.

Tools for Behavior Analysts

We develop evidence-informed tools that help behavior analysts translate behavioral science into effective everyday practice. These resources are grounded in RFT, RDT, ACT, and functional contextualism, with an emphasis on making complex concepts accessible without losing their scientific foundations.

Examples of our work include assessment and reflection tools, clinical decision-making resources, structured activities, implementation guides, and materials that support values-based and psychologically flexible behavior. Our tools are designed to complement—not replace—careful functional assessment, individualized treatment planning, and professional judgment.

Institute for Dynamic Behavior Science

The Institute for Dynamic Behavior Science (IDBS) is an independent research laboratory dedicated to expanding the scope and capacity of the science of human behavior. IDBS provides a flexible setting for collaborative research, conceptual development, mentorship, and the exploration of emerging questions in behavioral science.

Our research focuses particularly on language and cognition, relational responding, relational density, psychological flexibility, and their implications for socially meaningful behavior. Projects may include experimental studies, applied investigations, measurement development, conceptual analyses, and collaborations with students, former students, colleagues, and other researchers. Through this work, IDBS seeks to advance behavioral science while supporting the development of thoughtful and capable researchers and practitioners.
